Day 273 of 362

Hey all... It's Saturday, and it's one I get to leave early thanks to Loqucious' love of the World of Darkness. In the morning/afternoon, though, it'll be our last "semi-major" Magic: the Gathering event for about a month. I'm not expecting a huge turnout due to a huge online MtG presence holding a big tournament about 150 miles away from us in Indianapolis, but we should do alright.

What am I going to do with my time away from the store tonight? Hopefully a big, fat nothing, but based on how things have been happening lately, something may very well come up. If so, I'll take care of it and move on. I'll probably ruminate on one of my games and think about doing some planning for it, but never actually do the planning. =P

It's Friday and the recovery continues apace. The abscess is still swollen, but with pretty much zero pain unless I mess with it. Overall, I feel *MUCH* better, which is good, because now I have to help my sweet Loquacious and the kids recover from this wonderful bronchial infection I brought into the house. *Sigh*

On other notes, the new MtG set (Innistrad) releases today, and, as usual, we'll have singles and common/uncommon playsets for sale at open. I do want to throw some huge shout-outs to the following Gophers for their help in getting things ready. HighSign, Snow, DoubleL, Z-Mor, DDS, Osmosis, Tiny, Loquacious, Skirbl, and Pumpkin all deserve a big thanks from me to get these cards ready. Thank you all, VERY MUCH. 'Tis appreciated as always...

Beyond that, I don't much to say currently. I have a few errands to run prior to store opening that need to happen, and I'm about to head out the door and get those done.

And the swelling decreases slowly... I'm running WAY behind today. Order day got shifted by a day due to the new MtG set, so I should have a metric crapton of boxes waiting for me when I get to the store. Wish me luck...

Okay... feeling a little more human. A ER visit, some meds, and some rest are doing their thing. Turns out I had an abscessed tooth. I figured that's what it was, but it's nice to know for certain. Penicillin has the swelling going down, and I have some minor-league Vicodin if the pain ratchets up too terribly much.

Big day at the store... Order day got delayed due to the new Magic set, so I will be making all sorts of phone calls today placing orders and getting things en route to the Gopher. Add to that a couple of errands to run and my time is pretty limited.

Oh well... such is the life...

Red... red is the color of pain...

Okay... back at it once again. My overall sickness is pretty much gone. The occasional lung-shaking cough, but nothing beyond that. Now all I have to do is get some amoxicillan for this infected tooth I have.

I've had a small golf ball in my mouth for two days and it shows no signs of going away easy. I am not to the "slather-my-gums-with-orajel-and-poke-the-infected-pocket-with-a-sharp-object" stage, but I am not far away from it. The last time I did something like that (some years ago), though, I ended up in shock for 30 minutes and almost had to have an ambulance called.

My big problem in dealing with this is not insurance or money, but time. I just don't have time to take care of it the way it should be. Now if I can find a doctor/dentist/veterinarian/optometrist/witch doctor friend to just get me some penicillan, I'd be good to go, but that could cost someone their job... ...and that's not cool either.

Anyway... gotta go... duty calls...

Okay... I'm back at it... sort of. Still feel like crud, but a better class of crud. One that can't stop me forever or keep from trying to live my life... That was yesterday... As far as I am concerned, yesterday's crud can go get kicked in the jimmy by a Thai kickboxer...
