Day 294 of 362

Yep... Went back and did a bit of research/reminding myself from yesterday. I done tied a Windsor knot two days straight. Woot... =P

It's a lazy Saturday here at the store, today. A few board game sales, a fair number of folks looking for Magic cards, and the occasional dice hound has kept it from being completely dull. The boy and I have managed to get some work done, but mostly I am kind of trying to recover from a series of weekends where I've been too busy to think straight.

Tonight is the character creation/equipment purchasing session for a game of Terracide being run by Shady (one of my best friends). While the last thing I need to do from a time/work perspective is join another game, I haven't really gamed with Shady in a very long time. The man is one of my longtime best friends and was the best man at my wedding. I miss slinging dice with him at the table in any capacity. The fact that he's the author of the setting we're playing in is just icing on the cake.

Out of the blue, I just had an idea to build a machine that will scan, sleeve, price, enter into inventory, and stock into the sales/display option of your choice (binders, file cabinets, boxes, etc.) Magic: the Gathering cards using an automated process where you just drop the cards into a hopper, hit the switch and walk away. Well... one can dream, right?

Day 293 of 362

I experimented with a different tie knot today. I am not exactly certain which knot I used, but it's not the typical four-in-hand. I was looking at knot diagrams, and tied something I remembered from there. What I can't remember is which names go with which knots. Sigh... I hate getting old.

Hey all... It's another Friday, so that means Friday Night Magic and a late night for me at the store. I don't mind too much though... it's a good group, and typically fun is usually had.

Beyond that, despite waking up earlier than usual, I am running behind. There's much shopping to do for the store and I need time to do it. Sometimes, I wish I could clone myself, just so I could accomplish everything that needs to be done, but then I realize... I'm a douche... and there's no way I wouldn't get into an argument/fight with my other self. =P

Day 292 of 362

Hey there... only 70 days left in this "fashion upgrade" resolution. Still haven't decided how I'm handling continuing it beyond its determined expiration date. Mostly, if I'm doing it, and if so, am I going to continue posting pics to this blog. A few folks have said they enjoy it, but with only 20 or so followers, I do realize I'm doing this mostly for myself.

If I do continue, I am probably going to have to have some more sweaters done. I am growing weary of the same seven colors (black, navy blue, royal blue, red, burgundy, khaki, and white) and it is seriously beginning to hamper my sense of style as I find myself more often than not repeating favored combinations more and more often. There are other, more important, things on our agenda though. So those will have to wait a bit.

Day 291 of 362

This tie was sent to me gratis with my last order from theTieBar.com as a way to promote October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. I figured I would be remiss if I didn't wear it at least once during said month.

Hmmmm... It's shipment day at Gopher, so I'm going to get to the store and find boxes waiting for me at the neighboring business. S'okay, though... They're good people and they take care of them. They know, with the hours we keep, it's hard to get my 40+ year-old body out of bed sometimes.

Last night's DC Adventures run was fun, as always. Our group ended up going to the Rock of Eternity, pummeling or spacing the bulk of the Fearsome Five, freeing a number of B-List heroes (who are all still pretty much above us on the hero scale), fighting Blaze (the current Queen of Hell), stealing Blaze's crown as she tries to leave, and then running like scared little girls as a possessed Black Adam begins to beat the crap out of us. Serious, in one move, he one-punched three of us. Marathon, as durable as he is, was not among those three, and so, with Paradox and Beorn, we scooped up our fallen comrades and left the enraged Black Adam to fight Etrigan.

Yep... fun...

Day 290 of 362

Okay, It's Tuesday, so I need to scoot to the store and do some orders. I also have some MtG cards to go over, price, and place into their respective binders. The work at the store is never ending, and I think that's why I don't get bored with it, even when it seems repetitious.

As a long time "sufferer" (I think my wife suffers from my condition more than I do) of low-grade bi-polar disorder, I have found that finishing anything on a large scale difficult. Sure, I can read a book, make an NPC for a game, do a weekly store order, make a meal, and other overall trivial things like that. It's the big projects that trip me up, such as writing a book or painting an army of miniatures. I find it extremely difficult to look at things as a series of smaller tasks, and so I eventually get bored (or overwhelmed) and move on to other big projects. I don't finish those either. =P

Anyway, going back to today, tonight I get to play the telekinetic cynic, Marathon. I seriously enjoy playing in this game. It's got a fantastic GM and a great group of players, and we have a blast pretty much every time we get together.

Day 289 of 362

It's a Monday... I was starting out on a track until I got a call from the school. Seems like the girl wasn't feeling well. So, I picked her up from school and dropped her off at home before heading for the store. She seems okay, and talking to her about it all for a bit, I have reason to believe that she is hypoglycemic like her old man. Sigh... We knew the boy had the condition, just didn't expect the girl to have it as well.

In other news, there is a good chance we'll be moving the Gopher hole as shortly after the current lease is up. Nothing's definite yet, but the three weekends prior to this last one has sort of proved to me that we need a bigger space. My whole issue is that I *REALLY* like the physical location of our current space in relation to its positioning in town. However, there are no more/larger spaces to rent here, and it doesn't look like there will be anytime soon. I find it sad, really. There's a lot to like about the current spot...

Gaming wise... I'm still debating if I'm going to keep running the one game I am running. I think if I have one more session anytime soon like the last one where I spent significantly more time behind the counter than I did behind the GM screen, then I am putting the axe to it if I cannot find someone else to run it. The guys playing deserve better, and I know that they understand, but it bugs me that I cannot give them SOMETHING resembling my full attention.

Ehhh... who knows... we'll see what happens...

Day 288 of 362

I don't have a lot to say (as usual), and practically no time to say it in currently.

Today at the store are a couple of Pathfinder Society tables, a D&D4E game, and then some board games later tonight. I've got some work I need to get done if at all possible, but we'll see how it goes.
