Groove Check...

Today started out with something bad and it's still continuing. The point-of-sale computer at the store has caught a virus that won't let go. PC and RRC came over and did what they could with their limited time. We thought we had found everything and was finalizing clean-up when three more infections popped up. The machine works, but it is slow. PC is coming over tomorrow morning to see what he can do with more time. I'm thinking we take the machine offline and leave it there. If nothing else, it can get cleaned without the "back-door" Trojan letting more crap in.

This whole thing has kind of colored my day and put me mentally off my game. I'm trying to get back into the swing of what I figure I should be doing. That is working on game stuff. I think I'll go try to do so, if life lets me...

  1. Buck up trooper! Indeed that does suck, definitely been there, but try not to let it bring the whole day down.

    I'm rootin' for ya!

  2. I hate to ask, but will this stop you from taking credit cards? I'd be afraid that if I gave you my credit card to us that my credit card number might be compromised.

  3. Nope. We can still take credit cards safely. Our Credit Card Processing machine is separate and discrete from the main point-of-sale system, which is used mostly to track sales and inventory. We were at one point in time thinking about tying in our card processing through it, but we never followed through on what we would have to do to make that happen. At this point in time, I'm thinking we'll leave things as is with the cards being run through a different unit.

It seems much more secure that way...
