Hard Start...


The last couple of days have been a hard start. Getting up after about a four-hour nap each night is not the way to live, but I think that is what is going to happen until I get used to the new schedule. S'okay though... I've done long-term endurance-taxing stuff like that before. I'm a professional... =P

Today was a Gopher Minis Day at the store today, but nothing really happened in that regard. Three of our hardcore miniatures players were in St. Louis, and there is a big yearly festival going on across town this weekend. It makes for a pretty slow day. Normally I'm okay with a slow day tossed into the mix, but with M13 and Warhammer 40K (6th Edition) looking on the VERY immediate horizon, slow days scare me a bit right now. We should make it, but it might be tighter than I'd like.

Beyond business concerns, tonight is another run of Shady's Terracide game. Tonight, we will deal with a major conflict and get to a point where we can make a break in the story. Then, we are apparently looking at converting the game from HERO System to Savage Worlds. I'm not exactly certain how that is going to go, as they are two *INCREDIBLY* different animals mechanically. We'll see. I like Savage Worlds, but the idea of converting the current Terracide game to it is not exactly thrilling me. I don't know why...

Like all things... We shall see...

  2. I was kind of shocked when I found out that in converting from HERO to Savage Worlds my character was going to become much more...limited. Kind of disheartening.

  3. Kristi: I hope not... I have always enjoyed not having a summer swoon due to lack of students iin the area. It made finances easier to predict. =P

    Tom: Given what Grady had sent us, I had a feeling something like that would happen. I spoke to him about it some when we got to my house. I told him I figured there would be some issues because we were going from a system that is very granular and places things in fine focus to a system that paints things in VERY BROAD strokes.

    We took a look at some of the new edges he had designed and began to realize that they were very narrowly defined. He is going back to the drawing board and refining a few of them, and we'll see how it goes from there.

  4. I don't think it's due to the lack of students - the rest of June has been very good for us. But it IS prime vacation time, and the weather has been extra warm and sunny. :)

  5. Yeah, I looked through the stuff he had sent us and had the same thought. In a couple of cases Grady had 3 different Edges that could have been rolled into one.
    Well, we are all learning.

  6. Tom: Yeah, this is really Grady's first pass through the Savage Worlds system. There are things he really likes about it and things that drive him nuts. I did, however, warn him about about most of the things I knew would cause his brain to go "twonk", and he has seemed to be able to deal with those. There were just other things I missed and some things he had to learn for himself.
